Two things continued.......x

Ever had a project or three, that seem to take a lot longer to complete? I seem to be floating between to such rascals this week. I really did underestimate firstly how much bloomin paint a 1930's wardrobe would need. It's sucking the life out of my poor Annie Sloan white......what to do?????

That nasty veneer just won't allow me to cover it up. I'm furious with it. Furious I tell you.

Also I am deeply upset with the red and pink inside, so much so, I can't bring myself to show you. I thought it would be a good idea to varnish the inside, as the bumblebee's clothes and shoes will be in there. And knowing my little bumblebee's they'll be in there hiding and making potions with glitter. We are yet to move away from wipe-able surfaces!

But it just looks wrong. And it has stunk the whole house out ( bumblebee's in our bed last ratty mummy ) and, AND, the girls have friends over to play after school...waaaaaaaaaahhh.

From one meltdown to another, actually I quite like this project. I just thought I would get it done in a few evenings. Noooooooooo Nattie, silly girl. That would just be utterly ridiculous.

Remember the last post with a beano hint? Well STILL unfinished, but I wanted to show you a bit of beano chair.......

Q wants it for himself. Big bumblebee wants it too. As does little bumblebee. I say NO this is for a friends boy, his birthday present infact.......this too, will be varnished once finished. We will all be fashioning clothes pegs on the end of our noses for the next week or so .....ok?

  1. chair looks good and what a cute oel.
I just hate it when paint wont cover properly. Whoever coined the term 'one coat' is a great big liar in my opinion!!

  2. Everything I agree looks great....on Tuesday I'm starting to paint all of my trim in the living and dining.....I'm dreading it and excited all at the same time!

  3. Oh no poor you, I hate it when things go wrong, its a tricky one, maybe gloss might be better inside, although that stinks too...hope you get it sorted. the little chair looks amazing, my dads name is Dennis he has loads of Beano stuff, he'd love it!! and yes he is a bit of a menace :-) xx have a lovely weekend

  4. Its all the same when you want a project to chugg along at a quick pace. I have to say I am the same, Love doing a project but hate the waiting around waiting for it to dry in between! You will get there soon and it will look gorgeous I am sure!

The chair looks brilliant what little boy (or big girl) wouldn't be pleased to receive that!

Loved the spotty paperchains at the begining of this post too.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

    MBB x

  5. How about using spray paint for the inside? It's quick and sticks to absolutely everything!

  6. I used Annie Sloan paint on a 1920's china cabinet and it took lots of covering the varnish kept coming through. I did ring and make a little complaint about the paint as I was so disappointed I will give Annie he due she did phone me personally we had a chat about the lack of coverage and she very kindly sent me a new tin - excellent customer service!

  7. I hate when projects seem to take forever! We had the same thing when we made over our bureau and an old chair! Seemed to take forever, but it really is worth it in the end! Patience is the best virtue I guess! xxxx

  8. Good luck with your projects Ihate it whenthings just dont happen when you want it like yesterday.Love Jill xx

  9. Painting furniture is such a funny old business, especially when things don't go to plan.
I'm sure that your wardrobe will look gorgeous when finished!
LOVE that Beano chair- very clever.
    Have a lovely weekend.
